One man’s trash is another man’s treasure or so it has been said. It seems as if the Dolphins believe in that saying after looking at the QBs they have in camp. Let’s take projected started Duante Culpepper for instance. I had a feeling that alot of his success had to do with Randy Moss catching alot of bad passes, and he proved me right last season as he looked lost without his safety net. Culpepper threw only six touchdown passes and twelve interceptions before injuring himself. Also, to make matters worse he was on the “Love Boat” in Minnesota….which helped shuttle him out of town. Not to be totally negative here, numbers don’t lie and he had alot of good ones so far in his career. He has played in 81 games (80 starts) and completed 64.4 % of his passes for 20,162 yards with 135 TD passes and 86 interceptions for a career rating of 91.5. Culpepper has also rushed for 2,476 yards in his career and has 29 rushing touchdowns. It will be interesting to see how he plays this season if totally recovered from his knee injury.
Joey Harrington was so bad in Detroit, that the Lions like Jon Kitna AND Josh McCown better than him and gave him away for a sixth round draft pick. Harrington fell on hard times quickly as he criticized alot of his teammates and never blamed himself for anything. Harrington played in 58 games for the Lions (55 starts) and only completed 54.7% of his passes for 10,242 yards with 60 touchdown passes and 62 interceptions for a QB rating of 68.1. Harrington needed a new start, but if he gets to play in Miami he will have pressure to win there unlike Detroit.
Cleo Lemon is the third-string QB. Lemon has no experience, but the Dolphins wanted to get rid of AJ Feeley so bad they didn’t care what they got back as long as he was gone.
Marcus Vick is also in camp. Vick has alot of athletic ability, but he wasn’t that good of a QB in college.
