2. (61) Sean Smith, CB

The Dolphins traded up to get converted WR Sean Smith.  He has a lot to learn about playing CB as he often bites on double moves which he will see a lot in the pros.  But, no one can deny his physical talent as he stands at 6′2″, 215 and runs a 4.5 40.  Smith is very good in run support often packing a good wallop.  Smith played 3 seasons at Utah playing in 39 games (21 starts) in which he made 81 tackles, broke up 16 passes, had 9 interceptions (151 yards) and he forced 1 fumble.  The Dolphins should be able to coach him up.

2. (44) Pat White, QB/WR

The Miami Dolphins drafted Pat White specifically to run the Wildcat formation from the QB slot.  Anything he does over that is a bonus.  White is 6′0″, 190 pounds and he runs a 4.5 40 showing that he can get deep if he needs to.  White also has a very strong arm in case teams cheat into the box to stop the Wildcat.  White played 4 seasons at West Virginia playing in 49 games (42 starts) and he completed 507 of 783 passes (64.8%) for 6,049 yards with 56 TD passes and 23 interceptions.  White is also a dynamic runner carrying the ball 684 times for 4,480 yards (6.5 ypc) with 47 TD runs at West Virginia and remember, they take sack yardage away from rushing yards in college.  This was a good pick for the Dolphins.

1. (25) Vontae Davis, CB

The Miami Dolphins needed help at cornerback and that was the reason they picked Davis.  Davis is the most gifted corner in this draft physically and he brings a wallop against the running game.  He’s a little immature but look for Bill Parcells to keep on him bringing out the best in Davis.  Davis is 6′0″, 205 pounds and he runs a stunning 4.35 40.  Davis has played in 36 games (34 starts) in his three years at Illinois and he made 206 tackles, broke up 22 passes, had 7 interceptions (12 yards), forced 3 fumbles and he recovered 2 fumbles.  This was a outstanding pick if the Dolphins keep Davis focused and motivated.
