The Miami Dolphins sign QB Matt Moore

The Dolphins have signed 26-year old QB Matt Moore to a 2-year deal.  Moore played in 6 games (5 starts) for the Panthers last year and he completed 79 of 143 passes (55.2%) for 857 yards with 5 TD passes and 10 INTs (55.6 QB Rating).  Moore also carried the ball 5 times for 25 yards (5.0 ypc) last season.  Moore has now played in 22 games (13 starts) in his first four years in the NFL and he has completed 227 of 392 passes (57.9%) for 2,640 yards with 16 TDs and 17 INTs (73.9 QB Rating).  He also has carried the ball 20 times for 27 yards (1.4 ypc) last year.  Moore is 7-6 (53.8%) as a starting QB in the NFL.  He dropped the ball last season in his first chance to start in the NFL but in his defense he really got beat up.  Moore could challenge Chad Henne for the starting job at QB in 2011.  Even if he loses out to Henne, Moore will likely be a solid backup for the Fins.

The Miami Dolphins release linebacker Channing Crowder

The Dolphins have released 27-year old linebacker Channing Crowder.  Crowder played in 11 games for the Dolphins last year and he had 39 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss and he defensed 2 passes.  Crowder played in 82 games in his six years with the Dolphins and he had 469 tackles, 18 tackles for a loss, 2.5 sacks, 3 forced fumbles, 3 fumble recoveries, 17 passes defensed and 1 interception.  Crowder will hook on with a new team soon but the Fins decided to move in a different direction.

The Miami Dolphins acquire Reggie Bush from the Saints

The Dolphins have acquired 25-year old RB Reggie Bush from the Saints for 22-year old safety Jonathon Amaya and an undisclosed late round pick in 2012.  Bush played in 8 games (6 starts) for the Saints last year and he had 36 carries for 150 yards (4.2 ypc).  Bush also caught 34 passes for 208 yards (6.1 avg) with 1 TD grab last year.  Bush has now played in 60 games (41 starts) in his first five years in the NFL and he has carried the ball 524 times for 2,090 yards (4.0 ypc) with 17 TD runs.  Bush also has caught 294 passes for 2,142 yards (7.3 avg) with 12 TD runs.  He has also returned 92 punts for 720 yards (7.8 avg) with 4 TD returns and he has returned 1 kickoff for 32 yards.  Bush has signed a 2-year, $10 million dollar deal with the Dolphins.  He will share carries with rookie Daniel Thomas.  Safety Jonathon Amaya played in 10 games as a rookie for he Fins last year and he had 15 tackles.  This was a good deal for the Dolphins as they have added a very exciting offensive player for next to nothing.

The Miami Dolphins sign LB Jason Trusnik

The Dolphins have signed 27-year old linebacker Jason Trusnik to a 2-year deal.  Trusnik played in all 16 games for the Browns last year and he had 24 tackles, 1 sack and 1 pass defensed.  Trusnik has now played in 45 games in his first 5 years in the NFL and he has 104 tackles, 3.5 sacks, 4 tackles for a loss, 1 forced fumble and he has recovered 2 fumbles.  Trusnik will provide depth at linebacker but more importantly, he will be an ace on the kick and punt units.

Larry Csonka was a beast for the Miami Dolphins

RB Larry Csonka was elected into Pro Football’s Hall of Fame in 1987 for his work with the Miami Dolphins.  Csonka played in 106 games in his 8 years with the Dolphins and he carried the ball 1,506 times for 6,737 yards (4.5 ypc) with 53 TD runs.  He also caught 91 passes for 688 yards (7.6 avg) with 4 TD grabs for the Dolphins.  Csonka rushed for over 1,000 yards in three different seasons with the Dolphins.  Csonka’s biggest game ever for the Fins came back in Super Bowl VIII, which the Dolphins won 24-7.  Csonka was the MVP of the game.  He carried the ball 33 times for 145 yards (4.4 ypc) with 2 TD runs against the Purple People Eaters, to lead the Dolphins to victory.
