The Miami Dolphins place Vernon Carey on I.R.

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Injury Reports by admin on Wednesday 15 December 2010 at 5:43 am

The Dolphins have placed 29-year old OT Vernon Carey on the Injured Reserve List due to a knee problem.  Carey played in 12 games (all starts) for the Dolphins this year.  He has now played in 106 games (92 starts) in his 7 years with the Fins.  They will miss him as he is one of the best O-Linemen on the team.

The Miami Dolphins have placed Al Harris on I.R.

Blogged under Big Dolfans News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Injury Reports by admin on Wednesday 8 December 2010 at 1:48 pm

The Dolphins have placed 36-year old cornerback Al Harris on the Injured Reserve List due to a hamstring injury.  Harris played in 3 games for the Dolphins and he had 3 tackles.  In hindsight it probably wasn’t a good idea to sign a 36-year old corner in the middle of the season.  Let that be a lesson learned.

The Miami Dolphins lose Brian Hartline for a while

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Injury Reports,Needs to Step Up by admin on Wednesday 8 December 2010 at 1:46 pm

The Miami Dolphins have lost 24-year old WR Brian Hartline indefinitely due to hand surgery.  He might miss the rest of the year but that has yet to be determined at this time.  Hartline has played in 12 games for the Dolphins so far this year and he has 43 catches for 615 yards (14.3 avg) with 1 TD grab.  He has also carried the ball 2 times for 27 yards (13.5 ypc) so far this year.  23-year old undrafted rookie WR Marlon Moore will take over as the Fins’ #3 WR so they need him to step up.  Moore has played in 6 games for the Fins so far this year and he has 3 catches for 77 yards (25.7 avg) with a TD grab.

UPDATE:  (12/12/2010) – The Dolphins have placed Brian Hartline on the Injured Reserve List, ending his season.

The Miami Dolphins lose two QBs for the year

Blogged under Big Dolfans News,Bloglockers,Front Page,Injury Reports by admin on Monday 15 November 2010 at 2:58 pm

The Dolphins will be without Chad Pennington and Chad Henne for the rest of the season.  Pennington was making his first start of the year yesterday and he completed 1 of 2 passes for 19 yards before suffering a serious injury to his right shoulder.  Henne dislocated his left knee yesterday.  He played in 9 games for the Dolphins this year and he completed 195 of 305 passes (63.9%) for 2,140 yards with 9 TD passes and 11 INTs (79.4 QB Rating).  Henne also carried the ball 18 times for 18 yards (1.0 ypc) this year.  This is a huge blow to the Dolphins as it would be to any team.  They will roll with Tyler Thigpen as the new starting QB but look for them to sign 1 or 2 free agent QBs this week to back him up.

UPDATE:  (11/16/2010) – It appears that the Dolphins aren’t ready to declare Chad Henne out for the year quite yet.  Even if he does return to action though he’s likely going to miss a huge chunk of the rest of the 2010 season.

Jared Odrick is likely done for the season for the Miami Dolphins

Blogged under Big Dolfans News,Bloglockers,Front Page,Injury Reports,The Draft Report by admin on Thursday 21 October 2010 at 4:09 pm

22-year old rookie DE Jared Odrick is likely done for the year after breaking his left foot in practice yesterday.  He was just coming back from a fractured right leg.  Odrick has played in 1 game for the Fins this year and he has 1 tackle.  This has been a lost year for Odrick and they hope he doesn’t turn into a injury prone type of player down the line.

UPDATE:  (10/22/2010) – The Dolphins have placed Jared Odrick on the Injured Reserve List ending his season.

The Miami Dolphins have signed a player and ditched another one

Blogged under Big Dolfans News,Bloglockers,Free Agent Additions,Front Page,Injury Reports,Leaving Town by admin on Tuesday 19 October 2010 at 5:13 pm

The Dolphins have signed 27-year old fullback Deon Anderson and they have released 27-year old linebacker Bobby Carpenter.  Anderson played in all 16 games for the Cowboys last season and he caught 1 pass for 5 yards.  Anderson has now played in 38 games in his NFL career and he has carried the ball 2 times for 3 yards (1.5 ypc) and he has also caught 9 passes for 67 yards (7.4 avg) with 1 TD grab.  Anderson is 5’10″, 240 pounds and he’s known for his blocking.  I’m also pretty sure that Anderson will get some P.T. on special teams likely replacing Bobby Carpenter on them.  Carpenter played in 5 games in which he made 10 tackles.

UPDATE:  (11/3/2010) – The Dolphins have placed Deon Anderson on the Injured Reserve List with a triceps injury suffered before he even got on the field during the regular season for them.

The Miami Dolphins lose Jared Odrick

Blogged under Big Dolfans News,Bloglockers,Front Page,Injury Reports by admin on Wednesday 15 September 2010 at 8:24 am

The Dolphins will be without rookie DE Jared Odrick for a couple of weeks due to a hairline fracture of his right fibula.  Odrick had 1 tackle and 1 tackle for a loss against the Bills in the season opener last Sunday.  25-year old Tony McDaniel will start in Odrick’s spot until he’s ready to return to action.  McDaniel didn’t have any tackles against the Bills but he did defense 1 pass.  He played in 16 games for the Fins last season and he had 16 tackles, 1 pass defensed and 1.5 sacks.  I have a feeling that McDaniel is going to do a decent job while Odrick is out of action.

The Miami Dolphins place Will Allen on I.R.

Blogged under Big Dolfans News,Bloglockers,Front Page,Injury Reports by admin on Monday 6 September 2010 at 6:21 pm

The Dolphins have placed 32-year old cornerback Will Allen on the Injured Reserve List ending his season due to a knee injury.  Allen played in 6 games for the Fins last season and he had 21 tackles, 6 passes defensed and 2 interceptions.  Allen has played in 53 games (all starts) in his four years with the Dolphins and he has 189 tackles, 4 sacks, 45 passes defensed, 7 interceptions (1 TD return) and 5 forced fumbles.  The Dolphins are going to miss Allen as they aren’t too deep at CB.

The Miami Dolphins lose Nate Garner for a while

Blogged under Big Dolfans News,Bloglockers,Front Page,Injury Reports by admin on Tuesday 17 August 2010 at 5:16 pm

The Dolphins will be without backup guard Nate Garner for at least the next 8 weeks due to surgery on his left foot.  He played in 16 games (8 starts) for the Fins last season.  The 25-year old, 6’7″, 325 pound Garner is important to the Dolphins’ offensive line so they hope he will be ready to return in 8 weeks.

UPDATE:  (8/31/2010) – The Dolphins have placed Nate Garner on I.R. ending his season.

The Miami Dolphins lose Phillip Merling for the year

Blogged under Big Dolfans News,Bloglockers,Front Page,Injury Reports by admin on Friday 23 July 2010 at 12:41 pm

The Dolphins have lost 25-year old DE Phillip Merling for the season due to a torn Achilles tendon.  Merling played in 16 games for the Fins last season and he had 33 tackles, 2.5 sacks, 1 tackle for a loss and he defensed 3 passes.  He has now played in 32 games in his two years in the NFL and he has made 59 tackles, defensed 5 passes, had 3.5 sacks and he has 1 interception (he returned it 25 yards for a TD).  This is a big blow to the Dolphins who were going to use Merling quite a bit this year.
