The Miami Dolphins lose 1 offensive lineman for the year and sign two of them

The Dolphins have placed 28-year old center Corey Procter on I.R. with a torn ACL ending his season.  Procter played in 10 games (1 start) for the Fins this year.  He has played in 54 games (14 starts) in his first six years in the NFL.  The Dolphins have signed 29-year old center Eric Ghiaciuc and 27-year old G/T Tony Ugoh.  Ghiaciuc has not played in a game since 2008 with the Bengals.  He has played in 48 games (42 starts) in his NFL career and he could step into the starting lineup at some point for the Fins.  Ugoh played in 11 games (4 starts) for the Colts last season.  He has now played in 37 games (27 starts) in his first three years in the NFL.  Ugoh’s versatility will likely come in handy for the Dolphins.

The Miami Dolphins cut CB Jason Allen

Blogged under Big Dolfans News,Bloglockers,Front Page,Leaving Town by admin on Wednesday 10 November 2010 at 4:52 pm

The Dolphins have waived 27-year old cornerback Jason Allen.  Allen played in 8 games for the Dolphins this year and he had 32 tackles, 8 passes defensed and 3 interceptions.  He played in 71 games in five years with the Fins and he finished up with 172 tackles, 19 passes defensed, 1 forced fumble and 8 interceptions.  The Dolphins wanted to go in a new direction so that’s why they gave up on Allen.  I don’t think he’ll have much of a problem finding a new job.

The Miami Dolphins have signed a player and ditched another one

Blogged under Big Dolfans News,Bloglockers,Free Agent Additions,Front Page,Injury Reports,Leaving Town by admin on Tuesday 19 October 2010 at 5:13 pm

The Dolphins have signed 27-year old fullback Deon Anderson and they have released 27-year old linebacker Bobby Carpenter.  Anderson played in all 16 games for the Cowboys last season and he caught 1 pass for 5 yards.  Anderson has now played in 38 games in his NFL career and he has carried the ball 2 times for 3 yards (1.5 ypc) and he has also caught 9 passes for 67 yards (7.4 avg) with 1 TD grab.  Anderson is 5’10″, 240 pounds and he’s known for his blocking.  I’m also pretty sure that Anderson will get some P.T. on special teams likely replacing Bobby Carpenter on them.  Carpenter played in 5 games in which he made 10 tackles.

UPDATE:  (11/3/2010) – The Dolphins have placed Deon Anderson on the Injured Reserve List with a triceps injury suffered before he even got on the field during the regular season for them.

The Miami Dolphins cut Clifton Smith

Blogged under Big Dolfans News,Bloglockers,Front Page,Leaving Town by admin on Tuesday 21 September 2010 at 5:17 pm

The Dolphins have released 25-year old punt and kickoff returner Clifton Smith.  Smith played in the first two games for the Dolphins in which he returned 2 punts for 9 yards (4.5 avg) and 3 kickoffs for 52 yards (17.3 avg).  In the end the Dolphins decided that they couldn’t carry a return specialist on the roster unless he was productive which Smith was not.  Davone Bess will take over as the new punt returner and Patrick Cobbs or Nolan Carroll will be the new kickoff returner starting this weekend against the Jets.

The Miami Dolphins release OLB Charlie Anderson

Blogged under Big Dolfans News,Bloglockers,Front Page,Leaving Town by admin on Monday 6 September 2010 at 10:33 pm

The Dolphins have released 28-year old OLB Charlie Anderson.  Anderson played in 16 games (2 starts) for the Fins last season and he had 17 tackles, 2 sacks and 2 forced fumbles.  He played in 32 games (3 starts) in his two years with the Dolphins and he had 44 tackles, 4.5 sacks and 4 forced fumbles.  The Dolphins won’t miss Anderson too much based on the fact that they signed Bobby Carpenter earlier tonight.

The Miami Dolphins release two veteran DEs

Blogged under Big Dolfans News,Bloglockers,Front Page,Leaving Town by admin on Monday 6 September 2010 at 6:13 pm

The Dolphins have released 32-year old DE Charles Grant and 33-year old DE Marques Douglas.  Grant and Douglas each played in all 4 pre-season games for the Fins and they each had 4 tackles.  The Dolphins have decided to go with younger players at DE which led to these releases which could come back to haunt them later.

The Miami Dolphins release Pat White

Blogged under Big Dolfans News,Bloglockers,Front Page,Leaving Town by admin on Sunday 5 September 2010 at 3:48 pm

The Dolphins have released 24-year old QB Pat White.  White played in 13 games (0 starts) for the Dolphins as a rookie last season and he was 0 for 5 passing the ball.  White also carried the ball 21 times for 81 yards (3.9 ypc) last season.  The Dolphins have three QBs on the roster way better than White so they won’t miss him one bit.

DT Jason Ferguson is calling it a career for the Miami Dolphins

Blogged under Big Dolfans News,Bloglockers,Front Page,Leaving Town by admin on Friday 16 July 2010 at 6:46 pm

35-year old DT Jason Ferguson was facing a 8-game suspension at the start of the 2010 season and he decided it just wasn’t worth playing anymore as he has retired from the NFL.  Ferguson played in 9 games for the Dolphins last season and he had 23 tackles and 1 pass defensed.  He played two years for the Dolphins appearing in 25 games in which he made 45 tackles and defensed 1 pass.  He finishes his career having played in 159 games in which he had 496 tackles, 9 passes defensed, 21.5 sacks and he forced 6 fumbles.  The Dolphins were ready to replace Ferguson for the first 8 games of the season anyway so they won’t likely miss him too much.

The Miami Dolphins release linebacker Reggie Torbor

Blogged under Big Dolfans News,Bloglockers,Front Page,Leaving Town by admin on Thursday 27 May 2010 at 4:33 pm

The Dolphins have released 29-year old linebacker Reggie Torbor.  Torbor played in all 16 games for the Fins last season and he had 37 tackles, 1 sack, 3 tackles for a loss, he defensed 4 passes and he had 1 interception.  Torbor played in 32 games in his two years with the Dolphins in which he had 54 tackles, defensed 4 passes, he had 1.5 sacks and he had 1 interception.  Torbor will likely hook on with another team for 2010 but the Dolphins likely won’t miss him much as they appear to have a lot of depth at linebacker.

The Miami Dolphins trade OG Justin Smiley to the Jaguars

Blogged under Big Dolfans News,Bloglockers,Front Page,Leaving Town,Trades by admin on Monday 24 May 2010 at 10:38 pm

The Dolphins have traded 28-year old OG Justin Smiley to the Jaguars for a future 7th round pick.  Smiley played in 15 games (12 starts) for the Fins last season and he played in 27 games (24 starts) in his two years with them.  The Dolphins were just glad to get anything for Smiley as they were getting close to releasing him and getting nothing.
