Brandon Marshall is turning in another solid year for the Miami Dolphins

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Steppin' Up by admin on Tuesday 6 December 2011 at 5:22 pm

27-year old WR Brandon Marshall is having another solid year for the Dolphins.  He has played in all 12 games for the Fins so far this year and he has caught 63 passes for 910 yards (14.4 avg) with 3 TD grabs.  Marshall has eclipsed 100 yards receiving four times already this year for the Dolphins.  Marshall has now played in 26 games in his first two years with the Dolphins and he has caught 149 passes for 1,924 yards (12.9 avg) with 6 TD grabs.

Reggie Bush has been very solid for the Miami Dolphins so far this year

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Steppin' Up by admin on Wednesday 30 November 2011 at 10:16 pm

26-year old RB Reggie Bush always wanted to be a featured RB in an offense.  It just wasn’t going to happen in New Orleans.  The Dolphins though have given him the chance to prove himself as a runner this year and he has been surprisingly productive.  Bush has played in 11 games for the Dolphins so far this year and he has carried the ball 133 times for 567 yards (14 short of his career high) (4.3 ypc) with 4 TD runs.  He has also caught 35 passes for 237 yards (6.8 avg) with 1 TD grab so far this year.  Bush has now played in 71 games in his first six years in the NFL and he has carried the ball 657 times for 2,657 yards (4.0 ypc) with 21 TD runs.  He has also caught 329 passes for 2,379 yards (7.2 avg) with 13 TD grabs in his career.  Bush has a lot of tread left on the tires, so he could be solid for the Fins for a while.

Matt Moore is really stepping up lately for the Miami Dolphins

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Steppin' Up by admin on Thursday 24 November 2011 at 1:42 am

27-year old QB Matt Moore has been outstanding lately for the Dolphins.  In his last three games, Moore has completed 51 of 72 passes (70.8%) for 613 yards with 6 TD passes and 1 INT.  The Dolphins have scored 86 points in their last three games due in great part to the play of Moore.  Moore has now played in 7 games for the Dolphins so far this year and he has completed 119 of 187 passes (63.6%) for 1,319 yards with 7 TD passes and 5 INTs (85.8 QB Rating).  Moore has also carried the ball 17 times for 48 yards (2.8 ypc) with 1 TD run so far this year for the Dolphins.  Moore might actually play himself into a nice future with the Dolphins if he finishes up this season strongly.

Karlos Dansby is really playing well for the Miami Dolphins this year

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Steppin' Up by admin on Wednesday 16 November 2011 at 2:07 pm

30-year old linebacker Karlos Dansby is playing really solid football for the Dolphins so far in 2011.  He has played in 9 games for the Dolphins so far this year and he has 62 tackles, 2 sacks, 2 forced fumbles, 1 interception, 3 passes defensed and 5 tackles for a loss.  Dansby has now played in 23 games in his first two years with the Dolphins and he has 157 tackles, 10 tackles for a loss, 5 sacks, 4 forced fumbles, 7 passes defensed and 1 interception.  The Dolphins need Dansby to keep up the good work the rest of the season.

The return men are doing a decent job for the Miami Dolphins

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Steppin' Up by admin on Friday 4 November 2011 at 12:59 pm

The return men are off to a good start this year for the Dolphins.  Rookie Clyde Gates has returned 19 kickoffs for 419 yards (22.1 avg) and 3 punts for 32 yards (10.7 avg) so far this year.  Steve Slaton (3 returns for 85 yards) and Lex Hilliard (1 return for 14 yards) have also returned kickoffs for the Dolphins in 2011.  Davone Bess has returned 11 punts for 129 yards (11.7 avg) and Reggie Bush has returned 5 punts for 44 yards (8.8 avg) have also helped the Fins out on special teams.  The Dolphins have returned 23 kickoffs for 518 yards (22.5 avg) and they have also returned 19 punts for 205 yards (10.8 avg) so far in 2011.

The Miami Dolphins have a solid set of WRs

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Steppin' Up by admin on Thursday 27 October 2011 at 3:56 pm

It’s too bad that the Dolphins don’t have a QB capable of getting the ball consistently to their solid set of WRs.  Brandon Marshall is the main man for the Fins in the passing game as he caught 34 passes for 483 yards (14.2 avg) with 2 TD grabs so far this year.  Davone Bess is the tough, hands guy who is willing to catch the ball on the short stuff and take a hit.  He has caught 24 passes for 280 yards (11.7 avg) without a TD grab so far in 2011.  Brian Hartline is also a tough guy, but he goes down the field as well.  Hartline has caught 18 passes for 257 yards (14.3 avg) with 1 TD grab in 2011.  Rookie Clyde Gates has not been used much as he has caught 1 pass for 11 yards in 2011.

The Miami Dolphins’ running game has been better than expected so far this year

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Steppin' Up by admin on Saturday 22 October 2011 at 3:01 am

The Miami Dolphins are averaging 115.8 yards rushing per game and 4.4 yards per carry so far this year.  That is a tad better than the Dolphins probably thought it would be.  Rookie 2nd round pick Daniel Thomas has been pretty impressive so far this year, when he has been healthy.  Thomas has played in 3 games for the Dolphins so far this year and he has carried the ball 56 times for 249 yards (4.4 ypc).  He has also caught 5 passes for 49 yards (9.8 avg) with 1 TD grab so far this year.  Reggie Bush had been a little better than advertised so far this year.  He has played in all five games for the Fins so far this season and he has carried the ball 50 times for 190 yards (3.8 ypc).  He has also caught 15 passes for 92 yards (6.2 avg) with 1 TD grab this year.  Lex Hilliard has played in five games for the Fins so far this year in which he has 25 yards rushing on 9 carries (2.8 ypc) with 1 TD run and he has also caught 3 passes for 41 yards (13.7 avg).

It’s bad news when your safeties are leading the team in tackles, and that’s the case for the Miami Dolphins

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Steppin' Up by admin on Wednesday 28 September 2011 at 7:16 pm

33-year old Yeremiah Bell and 23-year old Reshad Jones are leading the way in tackles for the Dolphins so far this year, and that’s not good news.  Bell has played in all 3 games for the Dolphins so far this year and he has 24 tackles and 1 pass defensed.  Reshad Jones has played in all 3 games for the Dolphins so far this year and he has 22 tackles, 1 sack and 2 passes defensed.  A lot of Bell and Jones’ tackles have come down the field after trying to cover for the corners who are getting toasted quite a bit this year as evidenced by the fact that the Dolphins are giving up 311.0 yards passing per game so far this year.  The Dolphins need other players to step up on defense, so that the safeties don’t have to cover for everyone else.

Daniel Thomas has pushed Reggie Bush to the side for the Miami Dolphins

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Leaving Town,Steppin' Up by admin on Wednesday 21 September 2011 at 12:49 pm

23-year old rookie RB Daniel Thomas returned last weekend and he pushed Reggie Bush to the bench.  Thomas carried the ball 18 times for 107 yards (5.9 ypc) and he also caught 1 pass for 10 yards against the Texans last weekend.  Thomas looked great last week and he might wind up being the main back for the Dolphins in 2011.  26-year old Reggie Bush has now played in 2 games for the Dolphins and he has carried the ball 17 times for 56 yards (3.3 ypc).  Bush has also caught 10 passes for 59 yards (5.9 avg) with 1 TD grab.  It’s possible that Thomas and Bush could share the job at RB, but I have a feeling that Tony Sparano wants to ride one guy and I think it will be Thomas.  The Dolphins have also released 31-year old RB Larry Johnson.  He played in 1 game for the Fins this year and he carried the ball 1 time for 2 yards.

Chad Henne was outstanding in the season opener for the Miami Dolphins

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Steppin' Up by admin on Wednesday 14 September 2011 at 9:14 pm

26-year old QB Chad Henne had a rough off-season as the was booed at training camp by Dolphins’ fans.  They might be back on his side though after how he played last Monday Night against the Patriots.  Henne completed 30 of 49 passes (61.2%) for 416 yards with 2 TD passes and 1 INT (93.6 QB Rating).  Henne also carried the ball 7 times for 59 yards (8.4 ypc) with 1 TD run in that game.  If the defense would have helped out a little bit against the Patriots, the Dolphins might have won that game because of Henne’s play.
