The Dolphins have acquired 25-year old RB Reggie Bush from the Saints for 22-year old safety Jonathon Amaya and an undisclosed late round pick in 2012.  Bush played in 8 games (6 starts) for the Saints last year and he had 36 carries for 150 yards (4.2 ypc).  Bush also caught 34 passes for 208 yards (6.1 avg) with 1 TD grab last year.  Bush has now played in 60 games (41 starts) in his first five years in the NFL and he has carried the ball 524 times for 2,090 yards (4.0 ypc) with 17 TD runs.  Bush also has caught 294 passes for 2,142 yards (7.3 avg) with 12 TD runs.  He has also returned 92 punts for 720 yards (7.8 avg) with 4 TD returns and he has returned 1 kickoff for 32 yards.  Bush has signed a 2-year, $10 million dollar deal with the Dolphins.  He will share carries with rookie Daniel Thomas.  Safety Jonathon Amaya played in 10 games as a rookie for he Fins last year and he had 15 tackles.  This was a good deal for the Dolphins as they have added a very exciting offensive player for next to nothing.

The Miami Dolphins acquire Pat McQuistan from the Cowboys

Blogged under Big Dolfans News,Bloglockers,Front Page,Trades by admin on Saturday 4 September 2010 at 9:19 am

The Dolphins have acquired 27-year old OT Pat McQuistan from the Cowboys for a undisclosed late draft pick.  McQuistan brings size to the Fins’ O-Line as he is 6’6″, 319 pounds.  McQuistan played in 7 games (0 starts) for the Cowboys last season and he played in 40 games (0 starts) in his four years with them.  This was a good move for the Dolphins as McQuistan should help the depth at tackle for them in 2010.

The Miami Dolphins acquire CB Benny Sapp from the Vikings

Blogged under Big Dolfans News,Bloglockers,Front Page,Trades by admin on Wednesday 25 August 2010 at 4:01 pm

The Dolphins have acquired 29-year old cornerback Benny Sapp from the Vikings for 28-year old WR Greg Camarillo.  Sapp played in all 16 games for the Vikings last season and he had 43 tackles, he defensed 6 passes and he forced 2 fumbles.  Sapp has now played in 86 games in his six years in the NFL and he has 168 tackles, 22 passes defensed, 2.5 sacks, 4 forced fumbles and he has 4 INTs.  Sapp will provide depth in the secondary and help out on special teams.  Greg Camarillo played in 16 games (all starts) for the Fins last season in which he caught 50 passes for 552 yards (11.0 avg).  He played three seasons for the Fins appearing in 42 games (27 starts) in which he caught 113 passes for 1,325 yards (11.7 ypc) with 4 TD grabs.  Camarillo had slid to #4 on the depth chart at WR so the Dolphins won’t likely miss him too much unless the guys that were ahead of him get injured.

The Miami Dolphins trade OG Justin Smiley to the Jaguars

Blogged under Big Dolfans News,Bloglockers,Front Page,Leaving Town,Trades by admin on Monday 24 May 2010 at 10:38 pm

The Dolphins have traded 28-year old OG Justin Smiley to the Jaguars for a future 7th round pick.  Smiley played in 15 games (12 starts) for the Fins last season and he played in 27 games (24 starts) in his two years with them.  The Dolphins were just glad to get anything for Smiley as they were getting close to releasing him and getting nothing.

The Miami Dolphins acquire LB Tim Dobbins from the Chargers

Blogged under Big Dolfans News,Bloglockers,Front Page,The Draft Report,Trades by admin on Thursday 22 April 2010 at 11:48 pm

The Dolphins have acquired 27-year old inside linebacker Tim Dobbins as part of their compensation for letting the Chargers trade up to draft RB Ryan Mathews.  Dobbins played in 14 games for the Chargers last season and he had 55 tackles, 2 tackles for a loss, he had 1 sack, forced 1 fumble, defensed 1 pass and he had 1 interception.  He has now played four years in his NFL career in which he has made 151 tackles, defensed 6 passes, forced 5 fumbles, had 1 sack and 2 interceptions.  This was a good move for the Dolphins as Dobbins will give them really solid depth at inside linebacker for the 2010 season.

The Miami Dolphins trade Ted Ginn to the 49ers

Blogged under Big Dolfans News,Bloglockers,Front Page,Trades by admin on Friday 16 April 2010 at 4:42 pm

The Dolphins have traded 25-year old WR/KR Ted Ginn to the San Francisco 49ers for a 5th round pick in the NFL Draft next weekend.  Ginn played in all 16 games for the Dolphins last season and he caught 38 passes for 454 yards (11.9 avg) with 1 TD grab.  Ginn also carried the ball 7 times for 48 yards (6.9 ypc) last season.  Ginn’s specialty for the Dolphins last season was excellling on special teams.  Ginn returned 52 kickoffs for 1,296 yards (24.9 avg) with 2 TD returns and he also returned 5 punts for 28 yards (5.6 avg) last year.  Ginn played in 48 games in his three years with the Dolphins in which he caught 128 passes for 1,664 yards (13.0 avg) with 5 TD grabs and he also carried the ball 16 times for 124 yards (7.8 ypc) with 2 TD runs.  Ginn also returned 147 kickoffs for 3,386 yards (23.0 avg) with 2 TD returns.  He has also returned 36 punts for 312 yards (8.7 avg) with 1 TD.  The Dolphins won’t miss seeing perfect passes bounce off Ted Ginn’s brick hands anymore.

The Miami Dolphins acquire Brandon Marshall from the Broncos

Blogged under Big Dolfans News,Bloglockers,Front Page,Trades by admin on Wednesday 14 April 2010 at 1:24 pm

The Dolphins have acquired 26-year old WR Brandon Marshall from the Broncos for a 2nd round pick in 2010 and a 2nd rounder in 2011.  Marshall played in 15 games for the Broncos last season and he caught 101 passes for 1,120 yards (11.1 avg) with 10 TD grabs.  He also carried the ball 7 times for 39 yards (5.6 ypc) last season.  Marshall has now played in 61 games in his NFL career and he has caught 327 passes for 4,019 yards (12.3 avg) with 25 TD grabs.  He has also carried the ball 16 times for 104 yards (6.5 ypc) in his career.  Marshall will give the Dolphins a big time, go to receiver which they have not had in a long, long time.  They quickly locked Marshall up to a 4-year, $47.5 million dollar extension to his contract with $25 million guaranteed.  So he will be with the Fins for the next 5 years making $50 million bucks.  I love this move for the Dolphins who are playing to win right now.

The Miami Dolphins trade a fifth round pick to the Chiefs

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Trades by admin on Wednesday 14 October 2009 at 7:56 am

The Dolphins have sent the Chiefs a 5th round pick in the 2010 NFL Draft to complete the trade for Tyler Thigpen.  That was a small price to pay as Thigpen will start if something happens to Chad Henne.  It certainly won’t be Pat White.

The Miami Dolphins acquire Tyler Thigpen from the Chiefs

Blogged under Big Dolfans News,Bloglockers,Front Page,Trades by admin on Tuesday 29 September 2009 at 2:04 pm

The Dolphins have acquired 25-year old QB Tyler Thigpen from the Chiefs for a undisclosed draft pick.  He played in 14 games for the Chiefs last season and he completed 230 of 420 passes (54.8%) for 2,608 yards with 18 TD passes and 12 interceptions (76.0 QB Rating).  He also carried the ball 62 times for 386 yards (6.2 ypc) with 3 TD runs last season.  Thigpen is no real threat to Chad Henne despite his experience.  But if Henne struggles the Dolphins now have an option to replace him with.  Thigpen has now played in 16 games in his NFL career and he has completed 232 of 426 passes (54.5%) for 2,649 yards with 18 TD passes and 13 INTs (74.7 QB Rating).  He has also carried the ball 63 times for 388 yards (6.2 ypc) with 3 TD runs.  Thigpen also has caught 1 pass for 37 yards and it went for a TD.  This was a good move for the Dolphins.

The Miami Dolphins trade two guards to the Chiefs

The Dolphins have traded 27-year old Ikechuka Ndukwe and 25-year old Andy Alleman to the Chiefs for a undisclosed draft pick.  Ndukwe played in 16 games (15 starts) for the Dolphins last season while Alleman played in 15 games (4 starts).  This trade hurts the depth along the O-Line of the Dolphins but the draft pick they got in return should be worth more than what they traded.
