The Dolphins have acquired 29-year old cornerback Benny Sapp from the Vikings for 28-year old WR Greg Camarillo.  Sapp played in all 16 games for the Vikings last season and he had 43 tackles, he defensed 6 passes and he forced 2 fumbles.  Sapp has now played in 86 games in his six years in the NFL and he has 168 tackles, 22 passes defensed, 2.5 sacks, 4 forced fumbles and he has 4 INTs.  Sapp will provide depth in the secondary and help out on special teams.  Greg Camarillo played in 16 games (all starts) for the Fins last season in which he caught 50 passes for 552 yards (11.0 avg).  He played three seasons for the Fins appearing in 42 games (27 starts) in which he caught 113 passes for 1,325 yards (11.7 ypc) with 4 TD grabs.  Camarillo had slid to #4 on the depth chart at WR so the Dolphins won’t likely miss him too much unless the guys that were ahead of him get injured.

The Miami Dolphins trade OG Justin Smiley to the Jaguars

The Dolphins have traded 28-year old OG Justin Smiley to the Jaguars for a future 7th round pick.  Smiley played in 15 games (12 starts) for the Fins last season and he played in 27 games (24 starts) in his two years with them.  The Dolphins were just glad to get anything for Smiley as they were getting close to releasing him and getting nothing.

The Miami Dolphins acquire LB Tim Dobbins from the Chargers

Blogged under Bloglockers, Trades, The Draft Report, Front Page, Big Dolfans News, General by admin on Thursday 22 April 2010 at 11:48 pm

The Dolphins have acquired 27-year old inside linebacker Tim Dobbins as part of their compensation for letting the Chargers trade up to draft RB Ryan Mathews.  Dobbins played in 14 games for the Chargers last season and he had 55 tackles, 2 tackles for a loss, he had 1 sack, forced 1 fumble, defensed 1 pass and he had 1 interception.  He has now played four years in his NFL career in which he has made 151 tackles, defensed 6 passes, forced 5 fumbles, had 1 sack and 2 interceptions.  This was a good move for the Dolphins as Dobbins will give them really solid depth at inside linebacker for the 2010 season.

The Miami Dolphins trade Ted Ginn to the 49ers

The Dolphins have traded 25-year old WR/KR Ted Ginn to the San Francisco 49ers for a 5th round pick in the NFL Draft next weekend.  Ginn played in all 16 games for the Dolphins last season and he caught 38 passes for 454 yards (11.9 avg) with 1 TD grab.  Ginn also carried the ball 7 times for 48 yards (6.9 ypc) last season.  Ginn’s specialty for the Dolphins last season was excellling on special teams.  Ginn returned 52 kickoffs for 1,296 yards (24.9 avg) with 2 TD returns and he also returned 5 punts for 28 yards (5.6 avg) last year.  Ginn played in 48 games in his three years with the Dolphins in which he caught 128 passes for 1,664 yards (13.0 avg) with 5 TD grabs and he also carried the ball 16 times for 124 yards (7.8 ypc) with 2 TD runs.  Ginn also returned 147 kickoffs for 3,386 yards (23.0 avg) with 2 TD returns.  He has also returned 36 punts for 312 yards (8.7 avg) with 1 TD.  The Dolphins won’t miss seeing perfect passes bounce off Ted Ginn’s brick hands anymore.

The Miami Dolphins acquire Brandon Marshall from the Broncos

Blogged under Trades, Bloglockers, Front Page, Big Dolfans News, General by admin on Wednesday 14 April 2010 at 1:24 pm

The Dolphins have acquired 26-year old WR Brandon Marshall from the Broncos for a 2nd round pick in 2010 and a 2nd rounder in 2011.  Marshall played in 15 games for the Broncos last season and he caught 101 passes for 1,120 yards (11.1 avg) with 10 TD grabs.  He also carried the ball 7 times for 39 yards (5.6 ypc) last season.  Marshall has now played in 61 games in his NFL career and he has caught 327 passes for 4,019 yards (12.3 avg) with 25 TD grabs.  He has also carried the ball 16 times for 104 yards (6.5 ypc) in his career.  Marshall will give the Dolphins a big time, go to receiver which they have not had in a long, long time.  They quickly locked Marshall up to a 4-year, $47.5 million dollar extension to his contract with $25 million guaranteed.  So he will be with the Fins for the next 5 years making $50 million bucks.  I love this move for the Dolphins who are playing to win right now.
