The Dolphins have traded center Samson Satele to the Raiders for a 6th round pick in this April’s NFL Draft.  The Dolphins will also swap picks in another round with the Raiders which is to their benefit.  Satele started every game of his NFL career (32 games) for the Dolphins.  The Dolphins felt Satele was a little soft and have replaced him with free agent Jake Grove.

The Miami Dolphins acquire DT Tony McDaniel from the Jaguars

The Miami Dolphins have acquired 24-year old DT Tony McDaniel from the Jaguars for a 7th round pick in the 2009 NFL Draft. McDaniel played in 10 games for the Jaguars last season and he made 16 tackles, defensed 2 passes and had 1/2 a sack. McDaniel has now played three seasons in the NFL covering 25 games in which he has made 37 tackles, defensed 4 passes and has 1.5 sacks. This was a good trade for the Dolphins as 7th round picks are sometimes throwaways and McDaniel should help them this season.

The Miami Dophins trade QB Josh McCown to the Panthers

Blogged under Big Dolfans News,Bloglockers,Front Page,Trades by admin on Wednesday 3 September 2008 at 5:35 pm

The Dolphins have traded QB Josh McCown to the Panthers for a future draft pick.  McCown only played in 1 game this preseason for the Dolphins and he completed 5 of 8 passes (62.5%) for 35 yards with 0 TDs and 0 INTs (72.4 QB Rating).  John Beck will be the #3 QB for the Dolphins this season with McCown out of town.  Beck played in 3 games (1 start) this preseason for the Fins and he completed 7 of 11 (63.6%) for 62 yards with 0 TD passes and 0 interceptions (78.6 QB Rating).  The Dolphins made a good move here getting a draft pick for a player they were about to cut.

The Miami Dolphins trade CB Travis Daniels to the Browns

Blogged under Big Dolfans News,Bloglockers,Front Page,Trades by admin on Thursday 21 August 2008 at 8:08 pm

The Dolphins have traded cornerback Travis Daniels to the Cleveland Browns for a late round pick in the 2009 NFL Draft.  Daniels played in 16 games (5 starts) for the Dolphins last season and he made 28 tackles, defensed 4 passes and had 1 interception.  Daniels never lived up to his potential in his three year career with the Dolphins so it made sense to take a draft pick for him.  Daniels played in 44 games (25 starts) in his NFL career and he made 125 tackles, defensed 18 passes and he picked off 3 passes.

The Miami Dolphins trade DE Jason Taylor to the Redskins

Blogged under Big Dolfans News,Bloglockers,Front Page,Trades by admin on Sunday 20 July 2008 at 11:37 pm

The Miami Dolphins finally have traded DE Jason Taylor.  The Dolphins will receive a 2nd round pick in 2009 and a 6th round pick in 2010 from the Redskins.  Taylor played in 16 games last season for the Dolphins and he made 55 tackles, defensed 4 passes, had 11 sacks, forced 4 fumbles and he intercepted a pass that he returned 36 yards for a TD.  The Dolphins will miss Taylor but at least now they won’t have to answer questions about him every day.  Taylor played in 172 games for teh Dolphins in his career and he made 662 tackles, defensed 77 passes, sacked the QB 117 times, forced 40 fumbles and he intercepted 7 passes (three of which he returned for TDs).  The Dolphins are starting over and that’s why trading Taylor was an important move.  At least they won’t have distractions every night from T.V. crews waiting on trade rumors.

The Miami Dolphins trade RB Lorenzo Booker to the Eagles

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,The Draft Report,Trades by admin on Sunday 27 April 2008 at 4:26 pm

The Dolphins have traded running back Lorenzo Booker to the Philadelphia Eagles for a 4th round pick in this year’s draft.  Booker played in 7 games (1 start) as a rookie for the Dolphins in 2007 and he carried the ball 28 times for 125 yards (4.5 ypc).  He also caught 28 passes for 237 yards (8.5 avg).  Booker didn’t fit into the Dolphins new power ball type of offense so this will likely help both the Dolphins and Booker.

The Miami Dolphins acquire TE Anthony Fasano and LB Akin Ayodele for a 4th round pick

Blogged under Big Dolfans News,Bloglockers,Front Page,Trades by admin on Friday 25 April 2008 at 10:48 pm

The Miami Dolphins have acquired tight end Anthony Fasano and linebacker Akin Ayodele from the Cowboys for a 4th round pick in tomorrow’s NFL Draft.  Fasano will battle David Martin for the starting TE job on the Dolphins.  Fasano played in 16 games last season for the Cowboys and he caught 14 passes for 143 yards (10.2 avg) with 1 TD grab.  Fasano has now played in 32 games in his NFL career and he has caught 28 passes for 269 yards (9.6 avg) with 1 TD grab.  Ayodele played in all 16 games for the Cowboys last season and he made 57 tackles and defensed 4 passes.  Ayodele has now played in 96 games in his NFL career and he has made 484 tackles, has 9.5 sacks, has defensed 14 passes and he has intercepted 5 passes.  Ayodele will battle Reggie Torbor and Channing Crowder for the right to start at inside linebacker.  This was a good trade for the Dolphins who get two proven players for a 4th round pick.

The Miami Dolphins acquire NT Jason Ferguson from the Cowboys

Blogged under Big Dolfans News,Bloglockers,Front Page,Trades by admin on Friday 29 February 2008 at 5:49 pm

The Dolphins have acquired nose tackle Jason Ferguson and a 6th round pick in 2008 from the Cowboys for a 6th round pick in each the 2008 and 2009 season.  The 33-year old Ferguson only played in 1 game last season and he made 1 tackle for the Cowboys due to injury.  Ferguson is a run stuffer at 6’3″, 310 pounds and he will improve the D-Line as long as he can stay healthy.  Ferguson has now played in 134 games in his NFL career and he has made 453 tackles, has 21.5 sacks, defensed 9 passes and forced 6 fumbles.  The Dolphins have really improved their defensive line with the acquisitions of Randy Starks and Jason Ferguson.
