The Miami Dolphins have signed undrafted rookie RB Jonas Gray. Gray is 5’10″, 230 pounds but he hasn’t run a 40 yard dash in a long time as he is still recovering from surgery to a torn ACL which happened last November. Gray is a little soft in his running style, despite being a bigger back. The Dolphins are likely going to try to toughen him up. He also was very injury prone with the Irish, so the Fins are going to have to watch his workload in training camp and the pre-season in an effort to keep him healthy. Gray played in 11 games for Notre Dame last year and he carried the ball 114 times for 791 yards (6.9 ypc) with 12 TD runs. He also caught 6 passes for 38 yards (6.3 avg) for the Irish last year. Gray played in 33 games in his four years at Notre Dame and he carried the ball 189 times for 1,100 yards (5.8 ypc) with 12 TD runs. He also caught 11 passes for 105 yards (9.5 avg) for Notre Dame.

The Miami Dolphins have signed undrafted rookie WR Jeff Fuller out of Texas A&M. Fuller is 6’4″, 220 pounds and he runs a 4.5 40. Fuller is a possession type receiver because of his size, but he needs to work on his hands….as he is a tad inconsistent catching the football. He played in 13 games (12 starts) for Texas A&M last year and he caught 70 passes for 828 yards (11.8 avg) with 6 TD grabs. He played in 46 games (40 starts) in his four years with the Aggies and he caught 233 passes for 3,092 yards (13.3 avg) with 34 TD grabs. This was a nice pickup for the Dolphins as Fuller was pegged by some draft experts to be gone in the 3rd or 4th round of the 2012 NFL Draft. This is the perfect landing spot for Fuller due to the fact that his old coach (Mike Sherman) will be calling the plays and his old QB (Ryan Tannehill) is the Fins’ QB of the near future.

The Miami Dolphins selected QB Ryan Tannehill out of Texas A&M with the 8th overall pick in the NFL Draft. Tannehill has the size (6’4″, 220 pounds) and the athletic ability (4.7 40) that teams covet in a QB in the NFL. But, he has only played QB for two seasons, so he’s likely to be a little raw. Lucky for him, he will be teamed with his head coach from college (Mike Sherman, offensive coordinator), so that should make the transition to the NFL a little easier. Tannehill played in 13 games (all starts) for Texas A&M last year and he completed 327 of 531 passes (61.6%) for 3,744 yards with 29 TD passes and 15 INTs. He played in 49 games (25 starts) in his four years with the Aggies and he completed 484 of 774 passes (62.5%) for 5,450 yards with 42 TD passes and 21 INTs. The Dolphins aren’t likely going to throw Tannehill right into the fire and that’s a good thing for him because he’s not ready for prime time quite yet. He will likely be the Dolphins’ #3 QB when the 2012 season begins, behind Matt Moore and David Garrard. But, the Fins hope he will be ready to start in 2013.
